After a couple of weeks off, Apple has released the fourth Beta of iOS 17.2, along with Beta 4 iPadOS 17.2, watchOS 10.2, tvOS 17.2 and macOS 14.2, for now for developers only.

The next update for all our devices is almost ready for release with the arrival of Beta 4. It is expected to be available for the month of December, which we start in a few days, so it is likely that there will be one more Beta that will be the “Release Candidate” to then launch it officially for all users, as a public version. Of all the Betas, as usual, the iOS (and iPadOS) version is the one that includes the most new features. Undoubtedly the one that many will like the most is the ability to change the default notification sound, something that changed with the arrival of iOS 17 and for which there have been many complaints. The complete list of noevdades is as follows:

  • Ability to change the default notification sound, as well as haptic notification (the vibration that accompanies the sound).
  • New Favorites playlist, with all the music you mark as favorite during playback. This functionality is already included in the official release but the playlist will be available in iOS 17.2.
  • New Diary app, introduced at WWDC 2023 but not available with the release of iOS 17, where we will be able to write down the events of our day to day life, with personalized suggestions and the ability to integrate content from apps we have installed as developers update them.
  • New configurable action in the Action button: Translator.
  • New widgets for Clock and Weather
  • Spatial video recording for Apple Vision, only on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
  • New notification options for sensitive content, including sticker or contact poster scanning
Small improvements to Siri that can tell us how much is left to reach our destination on Maps or the height at which we are located
  • New menu to check the warranty of our devices within Settings>General>Coverage
  • New categories at the top of the App Store (not yet shown in Spain)
  • New option to disable inline text predictions in the Keyboard settings.
  • New option within the Music settings to enable automatic download of songs marked as favorites (enabled by default)
  • New option to select how we share our name and photo in Phone and FaceTime settings.
  • New window prompting us to allow access to Apple Music when opening the Photos app after upgrade

In watchOS 10.2 is included again the ability to change the dial by swiping the screen from one side to the other, without having to first enter the Edit mode by pressing and holding the screen. It will be something optional that you will have to activate in the settings of your smartwatch, because at the moment it is not activated by default.
