Melbourne (Australia), Feb 13- The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, fifth seed, recovered the shine, after hanging by a thread in his previous five-set match against local Thanasi Kokkinakis, to overcome by a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 and 6-1 to Swede Mikael Ymer and get a place in the round of 16 at the Australian Open for the second time in his career.
Ymer, who had been the executioner of the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the previous round, was overwhelmed by an intimidating service from the Greek, who only conceded one break ball in an hour and a half game.
He also maintained a low percentage of unforced errors (20) that confirmed his confidence for the next round match, in which he will face Italian Matteo Berrettini (9) or Russian Karen Khachanov (19).
The best performance of the Greek on the banks of the Yarra was in the 2019 edition after losing to the Spanish Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4 and 6-0.
