Santos FC continues to work on preparations for the funeral of Brazilian star Edson Arantes Do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, which will take place at the team’s stadium starting next Monday, January 2, four days after his passing.

The Sao Paulo team plans to hold the wake on the pitch of the Vila Belmiro stadium, where they have already set up two white tents to welcome the thousands of fans who are expected to say goodbye to the greatest Brazilian football legend. .

The coffin where the remains of ‘O Rei’ will be will be in the center of the field protected by one of the tents and surrounded by the chairs where the relatives of the former soccer player will sit. Likewise, the authorities that will attend will be located a few meters from the coffin and will be covered with the second tent.

People who attend the stadium will be able to circulate through a walkway that will be on the grass located about five meters away from the main tent where the coffin will be.

On the other hand, those in charge of the venue have spread a huge banner along the stands with the phrase: “Long live the King. I peeled 82 years. The funeral procession is expected to last 24 hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Brazilian time) from Monday until the same time on Tuesday, to then proceed with the burial.

The procession will pass through the Channel 6 area, where Pelé’s mother lives, Celeste Arantes, who is 100 years old, before heading to the Ecumenical Necropolis Memorial Cemetery, where he will be buried in a private ceremony, reserved for family members.
