Jorge Almirón will be the new coach of Lanús and his return to the club is confirmed after the negotiations held in recent days with the club authorities.
The news was known minutes after midnight, when the club made the measure official with a message on the social network Twitter.
“It’s official, we have DT for 2022. Jorge Francisco Almirón returns to Granate”, the club published on social networks and thus spread the news that was expected by the fans.
In the last hours, the president of the institution, Luis Chebel, moved forward to replace Luis Zubeldia, who did not accept the renewal of his relationship.
Almirón, who comes from directing Elche, of the Spanish league, has a very successful previous step for the institution between 2015 and 2017, achieving three titles in 2016: the First Division tournament; the Bicentennial Cup -in the final with Racing-; and the Argentine Super Cup -in which he beat River Plate-.
In his last season at Lanús, he led him to play the final of the 2017 Copa Libertadores for the first time, in which he lost to Gremio, from Brazil.
“Good night to all the garnet. I want to wish you a very merry Christmas and I hope we have an excellent 2022 together. See you soon at the fortress, greetings ”. This was Almirón’s message, through a video, after Lanús made his return official.
When he is installed in the position, he will have to define together with the leadership of the club the reinforcements for the new season. This was indicated by Chebel in his last contact with the press last week.
Anyway it transpired that a central steering wheel will be the priority, in addition to the replacements to the eventual sales.
Meanwhile, next Monday, January 3, when the squad begins the preseason at the Lorenzo D’Angelo sports center, several players will join who were loaned to different First Division clubs and promotion categories and return.
Among them the left-back Nicolás Pasquini, who will return from Estudiantes de La Plata; the forwards Sebastián Ribas (Central Córdoba from Santiago del Estero), Matías Belloso (Arsenal) and Matías Donato (Miter from Santiago del Estero); the steering wheel Gastón Lódico (Aldosivi from Mar del Plata); and the goalkeeper Juan Pablo Cozzani (San Martín de San Juan).
