Gigantes del Cibao won their third victory this Sunday in the 2022 Caribbean Series to continue as the leader of the championship. It was a 7-3 victory over Astronautas de Los Santos at the Quisqueya stadium in the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican team remains undefeated in the tournament with a 3-0 mark followed by Caimanes de Colombia with a 2-1 record.

Astronauts began by winning the match in the second inning. First with Christian Betancourt who took advantage of a hit by Daniel Jiménez to make it 1-0. Jiménez then scored thanks to an RBI by Eduardo Thomas.

The Dominicans were not far behind and in the third inning they came from behind thanks to runs from Carlos Paulino, José Siri and Hanser Alberto.

After scoreless innings, in the seventh, the Panamanians leveled the match thanks to Trey Hair’s score, but then the Gigantes would distance themselves by three runs to sentence the match.

Finally, in the eighth inning came the seventh run for Cibao’s men to make it 7-3 in the end.

With this victory, Gigantes will play against Caimanes de Barranquilla this Monday while Astronautas will face each other against Navegantes del Magallanes.
