Erling Haaland re-watched the match against Real Madrid and said: “It’s the best first half I’ve ever seen from a soccer team”.
Recently, Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, confessed that he re-watched the match between Manchester City and Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final and said that it is one of the best soccer displays he has ever seen in his life.
A little more than a week has passed since Manchester City’s historic defeat of Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final and the English team’s striker Erling Haaland seems not to forget that day.
The Norwegian striker recently commented, after receiving his award as England’s best player, that he re-watched the match against Real Madrid and could not believe his eyes.
“When I re-watched the first half against Real Madrid, and it’s one of the few games I’ve re-watched. I think it’s the best I’ve ever seen in my life from a soccer team,” the 22-year-old launched.
The Citizen team gave a true soccer exhibition against Real Madrid that was enough to inscribe its name in the second Champions League final in its history, and beyond the goal, the team led by Pep Guardiola dominated in all aspects of the game.
Erling Haaland’s individual performance in that match was not the best and although he had a couple of headers in the area that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was able to stop, the Norwegian player highlighted the team’s collective performance.
Manchester, the best decision
Haaland arrived last summer at City from Borussia Dortmund, but at the time it was not a transfer that came so easily, as the striker had offers from other big clubs in Europe, especially Real Madrid, who were bidding hard to sign him.
In the end, Haaland decided to go to Manchester and just after his first season, he affirms that it was the best decision he made. “I knew I was going to perform in the Premier League and I knew I was going to play for the great team that is City. It was the best decision,” said the striker, who this season has scored 52 goals in 51 games in all competitions.
