The San Francisco 49ers travel to Los Angeles to close the regular season in week 18, this being the last and crucial game against the Rams.
San Francisco has won the last five games played against the Rams and they are looking to sweep the series for the third straight season. This game has great repercussions, since if they win they would be within the postseason taking a playoff wild card ticket. But if they were to lose, everything would be complicated since they would need Saints to lose against Falcons to be able to win their ticket to post, so this has undoubtedly become the most important game of the season, practically it would already be like a game of playoffs as they need to win or possibly be eliminated.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could not play because of his injured thumb of his right hand. This week has already practiced by dividing the offensive series with rookie Trey Lance . Head coach Kyle Shanahan has not said who will start this crucial week. Garoppolo is in questionable status which means he could play or Lance could start for the second week in a row.
Last week, the 49ers beat the Houston Texans, with a score of 23 to 7. San Francisco’s offense was led by rookie running back Elijah Mitchell who rushed for 119 yards rushing on 21 carries and adding two receptions for 11 yards and his first pass touchdown of his career. His performance marked the fifth game with 100 or more yards of the season. Making his first start as a starter at home, the Lance completed 16 of 23 passes for 249 yards, two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 116.0. The receiver Deebo Samuel had three catches for 63 yards and a touchdown, while Brandon Aiyuk had four catches with 95 yards.
A defense, San Francisco captured quarterback Davis Mills three times a day, with linemen Arden Key and Jordan Willis having a catch each with Arik Armstead and Samson Ebukam dividing the catch. Linebacker line with Willis Fred Warner caused fumbles and Marcell Harris recorded 10 tacleos which has been the highest it has been in a meeting and intercepted a ball for the first time so far in his career.
