Ghostbusters will have the right to a new series on Netflix. As revealed by the streaming platform, this project will be directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, at the origin of the famous franchise, and Gil Kenan – who both worked on the film Ghostbusters: Legacy released in 2021. The two directors will team up with Sony Pictures Animation to bring the series to the small screen.
This announcement coincided with “Ghostbusters Day”, June 8, the anniversary of the release of the first film in the franchise in the United States in 1984. For the moment, no details on the plot, the cast or the title and the release date of the series has not been unveiled by Netflix.
New projects and video games
This project will be the franchise’s third anime series after Ghostbusters broadcast in France from 1987 and Extreme Ghostbusters in 1998. According to the American media Variety Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are expected to announce other upcoming projects soon.
Derivative video games are also in preparation: Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed et Ghostbusters VR both scheduled for the end of the year.
