The winner of the Princess of asturias, Jose Andres, well known for his charitable work, does business with the steel magnate Jon Riberas, according to Vanitatis.
Jose Andres is not a typical cook. Beyond creating new creations, in recent years his concern has led him to be on the side of the weakest. Now, on the island of La Palma helping everyone who has lost his home and his life due to the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano.
According to this publication, 90% of the chef’s activity is solidary, since the bulk of his companies, mostly restaurants, are located in the United States, where he has been based for 23 years. There he has more than 20 established stores, a family and an empire valued at 50 million euros.
World Central Kitchen is the project by which José Andrés has been awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Concord a few days ago, for his work during the pandemic in 2020, the arrival of Filomena, in January this year, the fires in Ávila, this summer, and now on La Palma.
In addition, José Andrés has other businesses in Spain. Specifically, two, the Jose & Jon Investiments SL holding company registered in 2014 with tax domicile in the Ambassadors area and which he manages through its main company based outside of Spain, José Andrés Corporation INC, and another company, Gold Iberia Internacional Agro Food SL, in which he is listed as a director.
In both, Juan María Riberas Mera appears as a partner, whose businesses are linked to the automotive and renewable energies field.
Through the first, the restaurants that the chef and his partner have on Ibiza Street in Madrid have been managed since 2019: La Cocina de Frente, Casa Julián Tolosa and Bulbiza. As for properties, it only owns a commercial premises inside the Palacio de Gaviria, whose sale was signed in 2017.
Latest project
Among his latest projects, José Andrés has created a television production company with gastronomic content. “It has been my dream to launch José Andrés Media for many years: to tell stories about who we are through the food we eat. Our gastronomic content will be as creative, fun, inspiring and authentic as our restaurants. I can’t wait to start ”, he pointed out. Its first release will be a six-episode series that will air on Discovery +.
But his most important professional project and for which he has obtained the most recognition is World Central Kitchen, which is based in Spain. An initiative that emerged after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. It was not so much a question of donating food, but of creating a circuit to deliver it and to cook it, since people had lost everything.
