A near fatal accident, a makeshift nurse, an ex who refused a key request. In the early morning of September 23, 2001, the SUV of Jesulín de Ubrique  left the road just 15 kilometers from his farm ‘Ambiciones’.

The bullfighter was torn between life and death. The medical report was clear: a patient in critical condition, with perforated lung, severe head trauma, five vertebrae and six broken ribs, and shoulder dislocation.

Jesús called Belén Esteban, his ex, to ask her to take their daughter, Andreíta, to the Sevillian hospital, Andreíta, but the today gathering of “Save me” refused when the Ubrique man said he did not want to see her, but only the girl.

“If you don’t want to see me – they say Bethlehem said – you won’t see your daughter either.” And he hung up the phone.

The injured man thought he was dying and wanted to say goodbye to the little girl. It was a dramatic moment, marked by hopelessness, there would be no room for forgiveness.

In the end, the miracle happened and, after being one month entered, in which they told him that he might not be able to walk again, he was discharged, and photojournalists captured the image of an excited Jesus eager to regain his normal life.

Beside him, a small woman was watching the bullfighter with a smile. It was then that we discovered the existence of María José Campanario, the young woman from Castellón with whom Humberto Janeiro’s son had been dating for a few months.

And the one who has not left her side since she left the ICU and was brought up to the floor at the health center.

The attitude of the princess of Paracuellos cost her the final break with Andrea’s father, with whom not even a simple friendship remained. They met again at the funeral home where the lifeless body of the television collaborator’s father was being watched.

Jesus always felt enormous affection for the man who could have been his father-in-law and wanted to give him one last goodbye. With the daughter just an exchange of words, a very heartfelt condolences. Nothing more.

And from here we deny that the bullfighter told Belén Esteban that if he had shown up at the hospital, things would be different for both of them.

Come on, they would have reconciled. JM, a friend from Los Janeiro, corroborates this: “Jesus limited himself to expressing his condolences and saying that a good person had left and that he was very sorry. The other is an invention”.

Years later, Jesulín confessed that he would never have married Belén: “With anyone but her, and Belén knows perfectly why“. The refusal cost her the cross of the man she was still in love with, without being reciprocated.

María José won the game with that masterful move of staying with the patient, while that of San Blas stayed quietly in Madrid and, after all, composed and without a boyfriend. His attitude took a heavy toll on him, because he never forgave him for that way of being.

A source close to Jesus reveals to that “Campanario played his cards very well, yes, she was very smart, she clearly took advantage of the opportunity to strengthen her relationship with Jesulín.

Bethlehem totally got her strategy wrong. If she had brought Andrea, surely they would not have barred her from the room. What they published that it was the patriarch Humberto who told him that they did not want to see her, is a lie.

It was Jesus himself who said that he should come forward with his daughter, but that she would not be welcome. The idea was for the girl to be picked up by one of the Janeiro family and for Bethlehem to wait outside ».

There are many who tried to confront the bullfighter and the gathering, but he did not enter that media war. Moreover, on one occasion he stated that “that woman has passed through my life, we have a daughter in common, and nothing else.

Life goes on and I wish him well. He met María José in a bar in El Bosque, a town near ‘Ambiciones’. A mutual friend introduced them and the three of them went to the farm for coffee. Jesus felt a crush. It was January 2001 and Campanario returned to his land.

They did not see each other again until four months later, and he admits that “I fell in love in such a way that I fought with all my might to get it.”

Crushes

Life puts everyone in their place. Currently, Jesús lives happy moments with María José and her two children, Julia and Jesús, and Belén is married to Miguel Marcos, an ambulance driver who crossed her path more than eight years ago, when she had a problem with her diabetes and was taken to a hospital in a car driven by the toilet.

Those who know them well assure that the crush was immediate and that she did everything possible to get the phone number of who, since June 2019, is her husband.
