The award-winning actress Verónica Forqué was found dead this morning at her home in Madrid, the Spanish press confirmed this Monday. The lifeless body of the 66-year-old interpreter was found by the person in charge of the domestic service at 12:45 a.m. and has notified the emergency services, who could not do anything to save her life.

The National Police was the one who took the case and a research source has confirmed to EFE that interpreter has taken her own life.

A person called 112 at 12:49 hours to warn of a suicide attempt in a house located in the number 7 of Víctor de la Serna street, the actress’s home.

The Spanish interpreter, born in 1955, was one of the most prominent figures in Spanish cinema and had been awarded a Goya four times throughout her career.

In recent times, she had spoken on numerous occasions of the depressions she had suffered. Forqué left the last edition of RTVE’s Masterchef Celebrity precisely because of problems of this type, as she herself had publicly told.

When she left the show, she said: “My body said enough”. Now, a few weeks later, she has passed away at home under confusing circumstances. According to sources of the investigation, the interpreter suffered from severe depression and everything indicates that it could be suicide.

Forqué, one of the best known and most beloved actresses on the Spanish film scene for films such as “What have I done to deserve this?” (1984), from Pedro Almodovar, or “Get off the Moor” (1989), by Fernando Colomo placeholder image, was the daughter of the director and producer Jose Maria Forqué and the writer Carmen Vázquez-Vigo.

Born in Madrid on December 1, 1955, she had studied Dramatic Art and also Psychology, the latter career that she had not finished. Rose to fame for her role as the prostitute Cristal in Almodóvar’s 1983 film, and won her first Goya as a supporting actress for “El año de las Luces”, by Fernando Trueba, in 1986.

In 1988 she won the Goya for leading actress for “La vida Alegre”, also by Fernando Colomo, and for “Kika” in 1994.
