Last June, Shannen Doherty shared on her social networks that the cancer that had affected her for several years had spread to her brain. The statements were accompanied by shocking videos where the Beverly Hills 90210 actress is seen receiving radiation treatment or about to enter the operating room, confessing to being terrified.
The videos Doherty shared date back to the beginning of the year, so the actress’ current condition was unknown. However, after several weeks of speculation, Shannen has been spotted on the streets of Malibu, being her first (recorded) public appearance since the latest updates on her health.
In the images shared by Page Six, Doherty wears a red blouse, dark glasses and a tan sweater. The actress was seen with a friend and a security guard leaving the Japanese restaurant Nobu, smiling and having a nice time despite the illness that still afflicts her.
These images come just a few days after Doherty shared pictures of actor Brian Austin Green’s birthday, where the actress was seen at a private residence on a sunny day with Green and more guests. Something striking about this celebration and her appearance on Nobu is that Doherty wore large sunglasses, which many users have theorized is a way to hide the radiation damage Shannen has received directly on her face.
It was in 2015 that Shannen began her battle with breast cancer. After a year of treatment, doctors announced to her that the disease was in remission. By 2020, the actress confessed in tears on Good Morning America that it was a “very bitter pill to swallow in every way”, in addition to feeling “petrified and quite scared”.
The cancer she was diagnosed with at the time was stage 4, which is prone to developing metastases. In January 2023, the news was confirmed: Shannen’s cancer had spread to her brain. So it was that Doherty shared the news on his social networks:
“On January 5, my CT scan showed metastasis in my brain. Yesterday’s video showed the process of putting on the mask worn during brain radiation. On January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is evident. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am lucky to have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the amazing technicians at Cedar Sinai. But that fear…. The confusion….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like.”
Days later, Shannen would share details of the procedure in which she would have the tumor removed for later biopsy. As mentioned above, she was completely terrified prior to the surgery, and explained in her words.

“Surgery. I had a tumor in my head that they wanted to remove and also do a biopsy. I’m clearly trying to be brave but I was petrified. The fear was overwhelming for me. Fear of all the possible bad outcomes, worried about leaving my mother and how that would affect her. I was worried about coming out of the surgery not being me. That’s what cancer can be like.”
Shannen’s struggle continues, but after the most recent photos that have been unveiled of the 52-year-old actress, everything seems to indicate that little by little she manages to recover from one of the most difficult stages of her life (if not the most).
