Colombian singer Shakira has had a year full of non-stop success. The most recent one comes from Billboard, which named the artist from Barranquilla as the Woman of the Year at the inaugural Latin Women in Music gala.

The event seeks to “celebrate Latina artists, executives and creatives who are proactively working for positive change, inclusion and gender parity in the music industry,” according to the publication.

This means that the artist from Barranquilla will receive recognition for inspiring others through her lyrics.

Leila Cobo, Billboard’s content director for Latin America said that Shakira has become a source of inspiration for other Latin women to dare to write and interpret, through her songs, personal experiences that marked their lives.

He also highlighted how her music, despite the years, continues to be a success, positioning itself at the top of the main music platforms.

“Shakira is the definitive woman in music. Thanks to her, Latinas around the world continue to be inspired to write and perform deeply personal music. She created a movement entirely on her own and remains more relevant than ever today, with elegance, enormous talent, and a deep tradition of helping the community. She is the definition of a woman in music,” said Leila Cobo.

For his part, Telemundo’s president of content and entertainment strategy, Ronald Day, emphasized that he is proud to give this recognition to the Colombian artist, since with her music she has managed to break barriers and different stereotypes.

“Her passion, talent and creativity have broken barriers and empowered generations to embrace our identity through music, and we are incredibly proud to recognize her as Woman of the Year in the industry,” said Ronald Day.

In the midst of the competition, other Latin American artists will receive special recognition for their contributions to music, including: Ana Gabriel, Emilia, Evaluna, Goyo and Thalía; however, the greatest tribute will be for the artist from Barranquilla.

The event where several Latin American artists will be honored will take place on Saturday, May 6 in Miami and will be broadcast the following day at 8:00 p.m. on Telemundo.

Shakira ‘exploded’ with joy after being reunited with a person very dear to her, who is it?
After her separation with Gerard Piqué, the press has tried to capture some moments of what is being the new life of Shakira and her children in Miami, after the artist made the decision to move to that city in order to start a new life, away from Barcelona and her ex-partner.

In Miami, where she dreamed of living some time ago, the artist from Barranquilla hopes to further enhance her musical career and be closer to her friends and colleagues in the industry.

In the last few hours, images were released showing the Colombian singer, very happy, enjoying the live show of the legendary Dominican Juan Luis Guerra, whom she considers one of the greats of Latin music and with whom she has been friends for years.

It is worth mentioning that after her separation and in an interview for Elle magazine, the singer mentioned that one of the friends and colleagues who accompanied her the most in her breakup process was Juan Luis Guerra.

The Monotonía singer was able to see her friend and singer in Fort Lauderdale last Saturday, April 22, where Juan Luis Guerra gave a sold-out concert and sang the best hits of his repertoire such as Burbujas de amor, Bachata en Fukuoka, Las avispas, la bilirrubina and many more.

“What luck and what a luxury to be able to listen live to Juan Luis Guerra, my spiritual brother and one of the artists who has filled so many moments of my life and the lives of my people,” wrote the singer in her story, paying tribute to the islander.
