Alfredo, 81, was found dead in his house in the town of Moreno

Alfredo, the father of musician Ricardo Iorio , former leader of V8, Hermética and Almafuerte, now a soloist, was found dead from a shot to the chest at his home in the Buenos Aires town of Moreno .

His partner, Margarita Rodríguez , 76, who found him on the double bed and called 911 to alert the police about what happened.

Under a nervous breakdown, the woman told the members of the 7th Police Station in the area who arrived at the house on Padre Fahy Street at 2100 , that Alfredo himself shot himself.

The police found on the floor of the victim’s room a double barrel pistol with no visible mark and open. At that time they requested medical assistance, but when the SAME doctors arrived they could barely verify the death of Iorio Sr.

According to sources, the shot hit the left side of the chest, at the level of the heart. According to Rodríguez told the police, the singer’s father would have lost his vision due to his diabetes and that is why he was experiencing severe depression .

Although all the elements found at the scene of the event, plus Mónica’s testimony, indicated that it was a suicide, the event was classified as an investigation of causes of death by the Functional Instruction Unit No. 2, in charge of the Prosecutor Carina Saucedo, from the Moreno / General Rodríguez Judicial Department.

Considered one of the historical founders of heavy metal in Argentina, Iorio was involved in various controversies in recent years with statements that divided his followers with a notable reactionary turn. Last September, it transpired on social networks that the musician would sing the National Anthem in the Argentina-Bolivia match that marked the return of the National Team to the Argentine courts after the hardest point of the pandemic. Even the track was already prepared, despite the fact that the AFA had not confirmed it. However, he ended up being replaced by the singer from Santa Fe,  Sergio Torres .

There was an express request from the National Government to the Argentine Football Association to replace the former leader of Hermética and Almafuerte, due to the complaints he received before the INADI (National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism) for misogynistic, sexist, xenophobic and anti-Semitic statements. In addition, he publicly supported or in veiled references in his songs throughout his history to figures such as the carapintada Mohamed Alí Seineldín or Alejandro Biondini , a reference of the Patriot Front.

The DAIA highlighted in a statement the steps it took to prevent the singer from taking over the Anthem on such a special occasion. “ Thanks to an initiative of the DAIA, Iorio will not sing the national anthem today in the game against Bolivia , which will be held at the Monumental stadium. Jorge Knoblovits, president of the entity,  contacted Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, and Victoria Donda, head of INADI to make this request, arguing that the singer promotes an anti-Semitic ideology, and messages of hatred towards different minority groups ”, states the letter that the entity shared on social networks.

The singer redoubled the bet and recorded his own version of the Anthem in a well-known Buenos Aires studio, which was later broadcast on his own networks. Weeks ago, he performed a solo show at the Obras stadium.
