Retired Hollywood lighting director, Thomas Markle 77, fell seriously ill in Mexico on Monday night and was rushed by ambulance to hospital.

After being released, he said: “I am extremely grateful and I know how lucky I am to be alive. I want to thank everyone, especially the wonderful doctors and nurses who have saved my life. They are angels. I’ve been very touched by the messages of love I’ve received from all over the world. I can’t speak right now, but I’m working hard and I’ll thank people properly when I can.”
