Today is a special day for the Ortega family, and it is that the “zariña” of Inditex, Marta Ortega turns 38. After more than 15 years in the company, on April 1 she will take the reins as president; a position for which she has been preparing all her life.

The daughter of Amancio Ortega, has developed her activity in different areas of the group during the last fifteen years and, in particular, has directed the reinforcement of the brand image and fashion proposal of Zara, an area that she will continue to supervise.

Under her leadership, campaigns with the most reputable creatives in the sector such as Steven Meisel, Fabien Baron, Karl Templer and Luca Guadagnino have materialized, as well as the launch of new ‘premium’ collections, including Zara SRPLS and Charlotte Gainsbourg by Zara.

“I have lived with this company since my childhood and I have learned from all the great professionals I have worked with during the last fifteen years. I have always said that I would dedicate my life to developing the legacy of my parents, looking to the future but learning from the past and at the service of the company, our shareholders and our clients, in the place where it is considered that I am most needed”, she affirmed in November after knowing her appointment.

I feel deeply honored and committed by the trust that has been placed in me and greatly excited about the future that we are all going to undertake.” A great professional success.

Eternal Honeymoon with Carlos Torretta

Regarding her personal life, Marta lives her eternal honeymoon with her second husband, Carlos Torretta, with whom she said “yes, I want” on November 16 of 2018. A civil ceremony for which the group’s heir Inditex, with its signature Zara as the emblem of the Galician firm, chose a beautiful design in a light pink tone in the morning and at night it opted for black.

A look designed exclusively for her by Pierpaolo Piccioli for the Valentino Haute Couture brand. The footwear chosen by Marta Ortega for the occasion was a low-cut leather lounge in the same tone as the dress. Marta wore her engagement ring as her only jewelry and some simple bright roses as earrings. On her wrist, a blue thread complied with the tradition of wearing some detail in this color.

While the bride wore an exclusive Valentino design, the groom wore a classic midnight blue suit, tailor-made by a Savile Row tailor. This event was one of the exquisite and discreet weddings of the year in the country, bringing together more than 400 guests, including some of the best-known faces in Spain.

In March 2020, Marta and Roberto welcomed their first daughter together, Matilda. A little sister for Amancio, the son she had in common with the rider Sergio Ávarez.

Waiting for next April 1 in which she will fulfill her dream by taking the reins of the Inditex group, at the age of 38 Marta Ortega is enjoying one of the happiest moments of her life at work and personal level.
