Lupita Jones wants to show that beauty queens “have capabilities”

“I was the victim of certain attacks that I consider political violence based on gender by trying to maintain a stereotype about myself. (But now) I have the opportunity to show that as a beauty queen we have the capacities to continue growing,” he said this Sunday in an interview .

María Guadalupe Jones Garay was born on September 6, 1967 in the city of Mexicali, capital of Baja California, and from a very young age she became interested in social assistance thanks to her father, who took her as a child to shelters for people in need.

In an interview, Lupita Jones shared that in her 30-year career after being the winner of Miss Universe, she received an invitation from various Mexican political parties but none convinced her because her interest was to govern the state that saw her grow up, bordering the United States .

Famous Mexicans who have never participated in the politics of that country now wish to have a space in that field.

“I was surprised by the proposal but it did not scare me because it is something that I had already projected in my life. I had not built a path towards it but there are times that I am afraid of what I think because my decrees take a certain force that even I do not understand. “he commented.

Jones is now a candidate of the Va X Baja California coalition made up of the National Action (PAN), Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) and Democratic Revolution (PRD) parties, to confront the current one in power, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena, left) , party of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Regarding migration, since the region faces a new wave as it is a crossing point to the United States, Lupita Jones commented that she is struck by how in a border state the local administrations do not put their hands in and leave the job to the federal government.

For this reason, he assured that if his Government wins, it will concentrate on providing a solution.

“There is a lot of work to do in this regard, but we must also reestablish that bilateral relationship with the United States to have better communication and to be able to generate solutions together. Because they are problems for both of us,” he said.

Lupita Jones has spent a week meeting with various social and private sectors of Baja California, where they have given her the opportunity to present her career after being Miss Universe, as well as her proposals to govern the border entity.

“At this moment, I approach the people and take their hands, you look into their eyes and they tell you what they live, what they suffer, it leaves me because I see them and I say: how is it possible that they come to look for a vote in exchange for lies, that they leave them abandoned, “he laments.

Jones Garay said that, if she succeeds in the June elections, she will be a governor close to the people, complying with the proposals, listening to each citizen, since it seems unworthy that the citizenship currently feels abandoned.

After making her name public as a contender in the 2021 electoral process in Baja California, Lupita Jones explained that she has a shock of emotions within her.

“The first thing that resonates is this romantic vision of seeking the best for our state and doing things well, it is this vision of dedicating six years of my life to rescue Baja California,” he said.

However, not everything has been positive, as he acknowledged that there were political attacks by the current leaders of Morena, at the state and federal level. And that is why she explained that, in her view, she faced “political violence” for gender reasons.
