The remembered protagonist of “My poor little angel” and “Ricky Ricón”, Macaulay Culkin, is not the only one who has excelled in his family. The famous actor has other brothers who have also ventured into the world of acting, and one of them is Kieran Culkin.

Kiran is perhaps less popular than Macaulay, but he is just as talented. He started acting at the age of 8 in “My poor little angel”, in which he played Fuller, Kevin’s unbearable cousin, who was played by Macaulay.

The young man continued to make a path in the world of acting throughout his adolescence and then as an adult he had an outstanding participation in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”, “Igby Goes Down”, “The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, “” Scott Pilgrim vs. The World ”, among others.

His Golden Globe nomination for his role in “Igby Goes Down” confirmed that he had become an ever-growing actor. Despite this, during his career he had several voluntary interruptions, since after achieving recognition in the cinema, various offers came to him; however, he was not prepared to gain more popularity.

“I would not have been able to handle the success and attention that would have been generated if I had continued my career, so I literally gave it up.” He even asked his agent: “Can I be an actor and not be famous?”

But after fleeing fame, his name came back to talk after his participation in “Succession,” an HBO black comedy, which won seven Emmy Awards, including the best drama series, and which helped Kiran have the certainty that he really wanted to be an actor.

“I remember the exact moment I felt it”, explained in The Hollywood Reporter. “It was at the end of filming the first season. I was coming home and I thought, ‘This is what I want to do with my life. I think I want to be an actor. ‘ He was 36 years old. I’ve been dedicating myself to this for 30”.

But why did Kieran Culkin have doubts about being an actor?

Kieran, as well as his seven siblings, Jennifer, Shane, Dakota, Macaulay, Quinn, Christian and Rory, entered the world of acting without any choice, encouraged by their father, Christopher ‘Kit’ Culkin, who had a brief acting career. and he was in charge of involving them with the performance.

“Some friends of my parents had a small theater, the Light Opera, in Manhattan and every time they needed a child for one of the plays, my father would ask them: ‘How old and what gender?’ They had seven to choose from. We were like props for those works”, Kieran states.

In his 2007 memoir, Macauley claimed that his father was “physically and mentally abusive” towards him. Keiran admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that he did not have the same “crazy, negative, horrible and traumatic experiences as a child actor” as Macaulay; however, he considers that his father “was not a good person and, yes, he was probably not a good father.”

Seeing the rise of his brother Macauley and his father’s authoritarianism when he was only eight years old influenced his vision of fame. “I do not like it”, explained on Vanity Fair.

“I think smart, headstrong people who experience fame directly or indirectly don’t want it. Between my personal happiness and success, I choose the former, without a doubt. If it makes me feel awful, what’s the point?” he added.

Added to this, Kieran remembers the unpleasant moments that his brother Macauley had to live because of fame.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Macauley’s younger brother recalled: “They harassed him on the street. Once a woman took off her hat, looked at it and said, ‘Yes, it’s him! You’re not that cute.’ And then he returned the hat and left.”

The new installment of “Seccesion” brings the glances back to him

Today, three years after the premiere of “Succession” and with the third season underway for a couple of weeks, fame knocks on Kieran Culkin’s doors again.

“My agents have sent me four scripts, but I am having a hard time reading them”, has counted. “I am moving and I am about to have my second child. In addition, I am taking care of the first one, with which I think I am going to take a little paternity leave”.

Everything seems to indicate that, for the moment, Culkin will continue looking for a way to continue developing his acting career without being a celebrity.
