Alabama

November begins the mailing of tax refund checks to Alabama residents who successfully filed their 2022 tax returns. The amount is up to $300 for taxpayers who filed a joint return and $150 for single taxpayers.

The money will begin arriving on Nov. 30. For those who use direct deposit for their tax refunds, the refunds will go into their bank account. If there is no account on file, the refund will be issued by check and sent via postal mail.

Alaska

The state continues to mail the 2023 permanent fund dividend (PFD) of $1,312. Payments for 2023 (and prior year) dividend requests that are in “Eligible-Unpaid” status by Nov. 8 will be distributed on Nov. 16.

Montana

The state continues to send out individual income tax refunds, which provide individual taxpayers with $1,250 or the amount on line 20 on Form 2, whichever is less.

Married couples filing jointly receive $2,500 or the amount on line 20, whichever is less. Refunds began in July and will continue through December.

New Mexico

State residents are eligible for a refund of $500 to single taxpayers and $1,000 to joint taxpayers filing a 2021 personal income tax (PIT) return.

According to the refund web portal, checks and direct deposits were mailed in June. However, eligible residents have until May 31, 2024 to file the 2021 PIT return to receive their refund. If they filed their return in October they could receive their money in November. Here are more details.

Virginia

Individual taxpayers who are residents of Virginia may be eligible to receive a tax refund of up to $200. Couples filing a joint tax return may be eligible to receive up to $400.

Washington

Washington state residents have until December to apply for the Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) which offers payments between $50 and $1,200.

The WFTC is a recurring program and can be applied for each year, so the deadline is December 31. It can take up to 90 days to process your application and receive your reimbursement. Here are all the details.
