New York City will require all private business employers to order their workers vaccinated against COVID- 19 by Dec. 27, without the option of alternative diagnostic testing. These are the most restrictive immunization requirements to date issued by any state or major city in the United States. Mayor Bill de Blasio said mandatory vaccination could help prevent an increase in coronavirus cases during the winter months.

Nearly 90% of New York City adult residents have received at least one dose of the COVID- 19 vaccine , representing a higher vaccination rate than the national average.
