People familiar with the investigation leaked that the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, was hit on the head and various parts of the body with a hammer.

Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, was brutally beaten with a hammer by an assailant who broke into his San Francisco home early Friday, people familiar with the investigation said.

According to The Associated Press, the husband of the speaker of the House of Representatives, 82, suffered blunt force injuries to the head, as well as to various parts of the body.

Anonymous sources told the same outlet that the attack was not random, the assailant “targeted specifically at the house.”

Pelosi was being treated by doctors for bruising, severe swelling and other injuries.

After the assault, Pelosi’s office confirmed that it was an assault and that the attacker was captured minutes after the attack.

“Early this morning, an assailant broke into Pelosi’s residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi. The assailant is in custody and the motive for the attack is being investigated. Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and he is expected to make a full recovery, ”said the official statement issued by the spokesman for the official Pelosi, Drew Hammill.
