A photo posted on his Instagram account shows the Mark Zuckerberg lying in a hospital bed with his left knee elevated, bandaged and fitted with a brace.
Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg and mixed martial arts fan posted on social media in Friday that he tore an ACL while training for a fight scheduled for early next year.
“I tore my ACL training and just got out of surgery to have it replaced,” Zuckerberg posted on Instagram. “I’m grateful to the doctors and the team that is taking care of me. I was training for a competitive level MMA fight early next year, but now it’s been pushed back a bit. I’m still looking forward to it when I get back on my feet. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”
Meta did not respond for the time being to a message seeking comment on Saturday (Nov 5, 2023).
Zuckerberg, completed his first jiu-jitsu tournament, has posted updates on his martial arts training.
A few weeks ago he shared a close-up photo of his face on Instagram showing a bruise on the bridge of his nose and under his eyes, which he attributed to a workout that “got out of control.”
The Facebook founder and Elon Musk made headlines a few months ago after they agreed to hold a face-to-face fight in late June.
Musk and Zuckerberg spurred interest in the potential fight via online messages, in which Musk went so far as to say he was training by lifting weights.
Zuckerberg said that Musk hasn’t taken the challenge seriously and it’s time to put it behind him.
But in August, Musk posted on social media that he might need to undergo surgery before the fight could take place.
Soon after, Zuckerberg posted on the social network Threads that he was ready to turn the page.
“If Elon is ever serious about a real date and official event, you know how to get in touch with me. Otherwise, it’s time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who are serious about the sport,” Zuckerberg wrote.
