- Best 5 Star Weapon: He homa stick it is Hu Tao’s best 5 star weapon. It provides a great amount of base ATK and Crit DMG, and its passive helps Hu Tao shine, as it adds more power to his kit the more Max HP he has.
- Best 4-Star Weapon: He the dragon’s scourge it’s Hu Tao’s best 4-star weapon and it’s also a relatively easy weapon to get as a free player. Hu Tao’s best team composition pairs him with Hydro units like Xingqiu or Yelan, to empower their attacks with the Vaporize reaction. So having elemental mastery built into your gear is a good idea. Additionally, Dragon’s Bane has a useful passive that positively impacts its damage, increasing its DMG of enemies affected by Hydro or Pyro.

- He Crimson Flame Witch 4 Piece Set It grants a 15% Pyro damage bonus on two pieces, and on four pieces it will increase Overload and Burn DMG by 40%, and Vaporize and Fusion DMG by 15%. Using an elemental ability will also increase the effects of the 2-piece set by 50% for 10 seconds. This set is Hu Tao’s best set as it increases his vaporize damage.
- He Shimenawa Reminiscence 4 Piece Set is a solid alternative, increasing your normal and charged ATK damage by 50%. Most of his damage comes from his normal and charged attacks, making him a viable setup, but will require you to hold onto your Elemental Burst, which can affect your AoE damage and survivability.

- Hu Tao/Zhongli/Xingqiu/Yelan: It is currently one of Hu Tao’s strongest teams. Xingqiu and Yelan provide additional Hydro DMG and Hydro applications, allowing Hu Tao to activate vaporization and deal massive damage.
