Being based in Ukraine has caused some problems for the Dark Country team over the past year. But they are still working on the future and recently revealed their plans in a roadmap for 2023. These plans include a mobile version, as well as new map expansions!
Dark Country recently released its 2023 roadmap. Most of it revolves around a planned mobile release. Dark Country hopes to appeal to a wider player base by making its game more accessible. Mobile gaming continues to grow and web3 game developers don’t want to miss out on this market! Dark Country plans to release a version of the game for Android and iOS in the first half of 2023.
And to make it easier for gamers unfamiliar with Web3 technology, and also to help maintain the in-game economy, the team is looking to implement an in-game-only token called GOLD.
Additionally, 2023 will see the introduction of leagues and seasons, allowing players to compete against (hopefully) equally skilled competitors. To begin with, there will be 3 or 4 leagues and the seasons will last two weeks. The best players in each league win packs at the end of each season. This feature is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2023.
To help increase the game’s free play opportunities and not discourage new players to the mobile app, Dark Country will also include a rookie league where players can only play standard free play. Each season, top players will receive card packs that they can use to start building their own decks.
Expansion in 2023
In addition to the hopeful expansion of the player base, Dark Country also has other expansions planned.
In 2023, Dark Country plans to release four new card expansion sets, each containing 40 new cards. This will bring the total number of cards available for the game to over 500.
But this is only the beginning. Dark Country has much bolder plans. This includes expanding to no less than four additional blockchains, as well as launching on additional distribution platforms. It sounds like a big project, and I’m not quite sure how players will interact between blockchains. Will there be a central and continuous market for NFT trading? Will players have to move all cards to the same chain to play them in the same deck? The Dark Country team said they plan to “unify” their SDM token across chains.
What all of this means for the average gamer remains to be seen. Hopefully we’ll have more details on the features behind these extensions in the near future!
Dark Country land game
What is the land of darkness?
At its core, Dark Country is a collectible card game built on the WAX blockchain. Features a gothic/western horror theme with cowboys, guns, demons, magic and undead minions!
Dark Country plays like other TCGs you may be familiar with, such as MTG, Hearthstone, and Gods Unchained. Players spend mana, play cards from their hand, and attempt to reduce the opponent’s health to zero.
Dark Country is a free game. The game provides a set of starter maps for everyone to play. Players can also use their own NFT cards to build decks. Dark Country offers play options to win through regular tournaments, special Play the Pros events, and by participating in land play.
Dark Country includes its own token, used in the current game, known as Shadow Dimes (SDM). Landowners use Shadow Dimes to upgrade their buildings and as payment to players. Shadow Dimes exist on the WAX and FLOW blockchains. The game’s map layer includes land ownership, guild PvP, quests, and more!
