The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) advanced 1.28% this Thursday in its main indicator to reach 50,805.21 units, to add its fourth consecutive day closing with profits at the beginning of the year.

The Price and Quotation Index (IPC), the main indicator of the BMV, “managed to close the session with moderate gains of 1.28%, marking four consecutive sessions of gains, in which it accumulates an advance of 4.83%,” he explained to EFE the economic analyst of Banco Base Alfredo Sandoval.

He highlighted that within the IPC only 7 of the 36 main companies registered losses and among the issuers with the highest profits were Grupo México, Alsea and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico.

With the advance of this day, the CPI added an advance of 4.83% in the first four days of the year after in 2022 it registered a loss of 8.03%.

During the day, the peso appreciated 0.36% against the dollar, trading at 19.32 units per greenback, after appreciating 19.32 pesos in the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.

The IPC closed the session at 50,805.21 units, with a gain of 643.94 points and a positive variation of 1.28% compared to the previous day.

The volume traded in the market reached 174.7 million titles for an amount of 12,800 million pesos (662.5 million dollars).

Of the 539 firms that traded on the day, 228 ended with their prices rising, 287 had losses and 24 closed without changes.

The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the home builder Urbi Desarrollos Urbanos (URBI), with 9.68%; the consumer products company Fomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA UB), with 4.31%, and the mining company Grupo México (GMÉXICO B), with 4.13%.

In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the oil company Vista Oil & Gas (VISTA A), with -11.49%; Banco Santander (SAN), with -8.1%, and the company Value Grupo Financiero (VALUEGF O), with -5.98%.

On the day, three sectors won, industrial (1.59%), materials (0.8%) and frequent consumption (0.64%), and only one lost, financial (-0.57 %).
