The CalFresh program helps low-income households increase their food purchasing power to meet their household’s nutritional needs.
CalFresh benefits issued through electronic benefits transfer, also known as an EBT card, can be used at participating grocery stores and farmers’ markets.
Homeless, elderly or disabled individuals can purchase prepared meals at participating restaurants with their EBT card.
Who is eligible for Calfresh?
In general, you may be eligible for CalFresh benefits if:
- You receive CalWORKS or General Assistance.
- Have low or no income
- You have limited resources or assets
- You are a U.S. citizen or legal resident
- You are an immigrant who meets certain criteria.
- Receive Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Security Income/State
- Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Security Payments (SSI/SSP)
Minimum requirements for filing a CalFresh application:
Applicant’s full name and Home Address (unless homeless, district address is acceptable).
Signature of head of household, any adult household member, authorized representative, or responsible household member.
How much will you receive each month?
Beginning October 1, 2022, depending on the number of persons in the household, the following amounts are received monthly:

- persons – $740
- persons – $939
- persons – $1,116
- people – $1,339
- persons – $1,480
- persons – $1,691
