A Georgetown, Kentucky man won $250,000 thanks to a scratch-off lottery ticket. However, he was charged $74,250 in taxes. The man decided to keep his identity secret.
The player told lottery officials that he was on a trip on his way to visit his son when he decided to stop at a Corinth Fastlane store where he bought some Wild Numbers 50X game tickets, which cost him $10.
“I bought a couple of tickets and scratched them off while I was in the car,” she said.
That’s when he discovered he’d hit a $250,000 jackpot.
This is the biggest prize to be won in this scratch-off and the player got it by hitting just one number: 39.
This was a surprise for the man, since normally the jackpots are accumulated by revealing different prizes of various amounts throughout the ticket.
The player told that the first thing he did was to call his mother and then he kept the scratch-off in a safe place, as he was afraid of losing it.
The man went to the Kentucky Lottery headquarters where he was given $175,750 dollars, after paying the corresponding taxes.
The player said he doesn’t know what he will do with the money yet, but will put it in the bank for the time being.
The Corinth Fastlane store received $2,500 for selling the winning ticket.
