A woman was walking outside when she was hit and killed by a car fleeing police Saturday in Anaheim.
Shortly after 1 a.m., Anaheim police received calls about an accident on North East Street. Upon arrival, they found a woman who had been run over and killed by a vehicle and damaged several nearby houses.
According to neighbors, the woman was walking around the neighborhood and was hit by a vehicle and then thrown into the front yard of a house. Investigators say Placentia police may have tried to apprehend the driver before the accident happened.
“Very strong, very hard,” said José, a neighbor who did not want to be identified. “I was sleeping but woke up, a big crash and maybe 10 minutes later a bunch of cops came.”
After hitting the woman, the driver also hit several doors and caused damage to homes before driving off.
Police continue to investigate the incident and locate the driver responsible for the accident. They are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the accident to provide information.
