David López Alfonso and Ismael Hernández Chirino were the two young Cubans who left Cuba this Saturday morning on board an ultralight aviation team that provided services in the tourism sector and after a flight of just over two o’clock, they arrived at an airport in the Florida Keys.

At Key West International Airport, both were arrested after arriving on a powered hang glider. As confirmed by law enforcement sources, the two were handed over to Border Patrol.

The Cubans, who had no problems during the flight, arrived in the United States around 10:30 a.m., having left the residential area of ​​Tarará on Cuba’s northern coast around 8:05 a.m.

The aeronautical equipment was registered CU1619 and was used in the modality of air sports in the tourist pole of Playas del Este, in Havana.

Cuban authorities called the two men “deserter pilots” and identified it as a qualified act of robbery and violation of Cuban airspace.
