A shooting in the capital of the United States, Washington DC, left this Monday night one dead and five people injured, not far from the Capitol, reported the American newspaper The Washington Post, based on information from local authorities.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. local time in the 1500 block of NE F Street outside the Azeeze Bates apartment complex, Police Chief Robert J. Contee III said at a news conference. The five injured were taken to a hospital. His status is unknown.
It is not known the reasons for the shooting or if the men knew each other. All the victims are male.
According to Contee, there appeared to be a large group of people in the area when the shots were fired. “We have people in our communities who have lost their sense of humanity,” Contee said.
