A 10-year-old boy died trying to save one of his sisters from drowning in a South Dakota river, authorities confirmed.
The victim was identified as Ricky Lee Sneve, whose body was found after several hours of searching in the Hudson River.
The Lincoln County Police Department confirmed the tragic death of the boy, who disappeared when he jumped into the water after his sisters fell into the water.
“He passed away saving the lives of his sisters,” said Nicole Eufers, the child’s mother. “He is a hero.”
Eufers explained that two of his little sisters fell into the water in the river and the father jumped into the water to rescue them.
Almost immediately, the minor also decided to jump into the water to help his sister Chevelle, who he managed to push towards the shore, but disappeared until his lifeless body was found by the authorities.
