Google unveiled its new version of the operating system for mobile devices, Android 14. Although still in the testing phase for developers, this new version promises to take a leap forward in terms of features and improvements, without major changes.

Although it is still unclear which Android compatible devices will receive the update to version 14, it is known that Pixel phones will be among the first to receive it. The current version of Android 14 only has a first preview Div, and for the first open beta we will have to wait for Google’s most important event, Google I/O, which is expected to take place in May 2023.

The final and stable version of Android 14 will be released in late August or early September 2023and will be named Android 14 upside down cake. Although this system update will not undergo a huge evolution in terms of aesthetics, it will include some important novelties, such as the reintroduction of the navigation gesture which allows to preview the previous screen by returning from the edge of the screen.

These are the new features that Android 14 will offer

It should be noted that Android 14 will only support 64-bit in practice, which means that some older devices might not be compatible with this new version of the operating system.

In addition to the innovations already mentioned, Android 14 it will also bring significant changes in your share menu, which will be standardized to provide a more consistent and user-friendly experience for users. This feature is essential for sharing content and files between different applications, and with the introduction of a generic menu, users will be able to access this feature faster and easier.

On the other hand, in the android news that have reached us, we have learned that this new version of Android will focus on improving device privacy and security, giving users more options to manage their device permissions. This is particularly important in a world where more and more personal data is used and where transactions are carried out online.

And finally, Android 14 will implement “Advanced Memory Protection”, a technology based on ARMv9 processors, the latest architecture not yet included in most mobile phones. Thanks to this technology, it will be possible to prevent the spread of applications and avoid infecting devices with malware or stealing user data, which will significantly improve device security.

Android 14 promises to be a major update in terms of features and improvements. But for now, users will have to wait until late August or early September 2023 to take advantage of this new version of the operating system and although only Pixel phones are confirmed to receive the update, it is expected that other Compatible devices will receive the updated update within months of its release.
