A call about a possibly injured person inside a Hialeah home alerted authorities.
Hialeah Police spokesman Lt. Eddie Rodriguez said:
“But when the officers arrived they realized a man had fled from the back of this house.”
Officers entered the home at 420 West 53rd Street and “while searching the home, they found a deceased person inside,” police said.
A man, whose identity has not yet been revealed. Subject seen leaving the house was located just over a mile from the scene.
“This person of interest is in custody at this time. He’s talking to detectives,” police said.
His relationship to the victim and the possible cause of the homicide are still unknown. An unconfirmed version of events is circulating among locals.
“They tell me there’s a girl living with her boyfriend, that he tried to cut her throat. I don’t know if it’s true,” said a neighbor.
“We don’t know if he was the victim of a gunshot,” police said.
As questions about what happened mount and police remain on the scene, relatives of those involved arrive near the house. Off camera, a relative told me that the victim was not even 20 years old.
“In this house, there were always wrecked cars, garbage, noise. I’ve never had direct contact with them, but that doesn’t surprise me,” says a neighbor.
The authorities are continuing the investigation and have not revealed the causes of the crime.
