A large police presence outside Miami City Hall in Coconut Grove on Monday morning surrounded the main entrance due to an unusual incident: a raid on a commissioner’s office.

“When my assistant arrived, he called me and asked me if I had come over the weekend, I told him no, and when he entered my office, “everything was hidden”, says Reyes .

Without giving further details, Miami City Commissioner Manolo Reyes, visibly upset by what happened, said he did not know what he or those suspected of entering his office were looking for.

“All I had to do was wonder why my life is an open book, I have nothing to hide. And if they tried to send a message or bully me, they would lose their time,” says Reyes.

“Detectives are investigating if there is any other evidence they can collect in addition to the photos we have already obtained,” police said.

Although the only evidence in the case is still classified, Miami city law enforcement officials said they are investigating.

“We are checking every type of entrance to this building, whether it’s outside or inside to see if anyone has seen anything,” police said.

“Whoever was there made sure we knew she was there by the way she left the office,” Reyes said.

The commissioner assured that he had no enemies or opponents who could carry out this type of raid.

“I’m not afraid of anything, and nobody’s going to scare me,” Reyes said.
