The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is approaching, but it’s not the first tournament of the year for the USA Women’s National Team.

That would be the SheBelieves Cup, which kicks off this Thursday, February 16.

Four teams, including the host USWNT, will battle it out for the medal that will lift their spirits heading into the summer.

Here’s what you need to know about the 2023 SheBelieves Cup as the USA Women’s Team prepares to win for the fourth consecutive year:

WHAT IS THE SHEBELIEVES CUP?

The SheBelieves Cup is an annual United States-based tournament featuring four teams competing in a round-robin format.

After playing all three games, the team with the most accumulated points is crowned champion.

The first edition of the tournament started in 2016 and has been held every year since then. The USWNT have won five times, while France won in 2017 and England in 2019.

The American team has won the last three tournaments.

WHEN IS THE 2023 SHEBELIEVES CUP?

The 2023 edition of the tournament begins on Thursday February 16 and will end on Wednesday February 22.

With three days come three cities for the tournament: Orlando, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee and Frisco, Texas.

Exploria Stadium (home of Orlando City), Geodis Park (where Nashville SC plays) and Toyota Stadium (of FC Dallas) are the three stadiums.

WHICH NATIONS ARE IN THE 2023 SHEBELIEVES CUP?

Along with the USWNT, Canada, Brazil and Japan are the three teams invited to compete.

In the latest FIFA Women’s International Team Rankings as of December 9, 2022, the USWNT ranked first, Canada sixth, Brazil ninth and Japan eleventh.
