• The young suspect starred in a chase on a highway in north Laredo before being arrested

TEXAS – Authorities reported that a Hispanic teenager was on a chase near the border in the Laredo area trying to evade police while illegally transporting several people.

The incident occurred north of Laredo last week, according to the Encinal Police Department (EPD).

Police stated that a 17-year-old man was arrested for driving the 10 individuals, who were in turn detained by the US Border Patrol.

EPD stated that USBP chased the vehicle heading north on Interstate 35. Police blocked roads entering the city as the suspect traveled east on TX Highway 44.

The chase came to an end when EPD stated that the truck received two punctures, causing the driver to attempt to evade custody on foot.

“After a brief foot chase, the suspect actively resisted arrest and was desperately trying to escape,” EPD said in a statement. “Encinal police officers used a less lethal tool to safely detain the violent suspect and successfully took him into custody.”

The suspect’s name has not been released.
