Students from various Florida high schools and universities plan to leave their respective campuses to protest recent actions by the state government.
Reports have indicated that one of the schools in the Central Florida region that may be involved in the protest is Osceola High School.
However, at noon, students are still inside the classrooms.
The protest had been promoted on social media by the Walkout2Learn organization, which says “the Florida government is waging, without exaggeration, an authoritarian takeover of the public education system.”
The move comes two days after the Florida Board of Education approved a ban on teaching sexual orientation and gender identity at all levels, expanding the Parents’ Rights in Education Act, also known as under the name of “No say gay”, at the request of the governor. Ron DeSantis.
