A woman’s body was discovered in a vehicle at Harry Reid International Airport after 23 days, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMPD) reported.

The woman was identified as Nanci Jo Hemingway, 65, and according to a note on the front passenger seat, she was homeless and had recently left her dog at a shelter.

For its part, Metro responded to the incident after receiving a call from the airport’s parking control department, which reported a suspicious vehicle during an inventory.

The parking attendant found the vehicle and said he had entered the building 23 days earlier and noticed a foul odor.

When the officer looked out the car window, he saw the deceased woman lying in the back seat. They specified that the vehicle had a Washington license plate.

Inside the vehicle, investigators found blankets, containers of water and a container of pills.

During an autopsy conducted by the Clark County Coroner, the cause of death was determined to be suicide.

The coroner requested that the car be left in the parking structure pending next of kin contact according to the incident report.
