Last Saturday after two o’clock in the afternoon, a person alerted the agents of a Walmart that a robbery was taking place in the establishment.
A customer at the supermarket on 45th Street shouted that a robbery was in progress, and immediately two officers who were on duty inside the store immediately started running after the two subjects the customer had reported . .
Officers chased the suspects through the parking lot where shots were fired, but one began running into the store, the other into the parking lot.
Police say the incident ended with the arrest of 20-year-old Jaquavius Robinson.
West Palm Beach police spokesman Mike Jachles comments that “At one point, Robinson dropped his firearm in the parking lot, picked it up, turned around and tried to shoot the officer”.
Police claimed the suspect’s gun was jammed, but they shot him. “He tried to shoot some cops and every time you get to that level and confront a cop, the cops take action.”
Once the suspect dropped the weapon, according to the spokesperson, the officers stopped firing. “The chase continued through the parking lot as the shooter tried to get into vehicles to get away. Eventually he was captured in the next door business in the parking lot of Sam’s Club.
As for the second suspect, he has not yet been identified or arrested, while the authorities continue to investigate this fact where no one has been injured.
“It obviously could have had a much worse outcome in a crowded store on a Saturday,” authorities said.
Jaquavius Robinson faces 8 counts, including possession of stolen credit cards and aggravated assault on a police officer. His bail was set at $30,000.
