A person was reportedly struck and killed on the southbound 110 freeway early Tuesday morning in downtown Los Angeles.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were called at 2:11 a.m. to the freeway and Olympic Boulevard near Eighth Street, where they found a body in one of the freeway lanes, CHP officer Ramon Kendricks told the City News Service.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately known if the victim was a pedestrian.

The collision closed all lanes of the freeway for several hours.
