California Highway Patrol officers shot a pedestrian near the Rosecrans Avenue on-ramp of the 405 freeway in Hawthorne on Thursday night, causing a more than four-hour closure of northbound lanes from the highway.
Officers responded to an area near the Rosecrans Avenue entrance ramp just after 7 p.m. to a possible fire on the highway shoulder when they came into contact with the pedestrian, according to the HPC.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital in an unknown condition.
CHP issued a SigAlert for a northbound freeway closure near the shooting and traffic was diverted to Inglewood Avenue while it investigates.
