A second suspect was behind bars on Monday in connection with a weekend shooting at the Fallbrook Mall in West Hills.
Amy Waters, 33, is believed to have helped the suspect flee the scene by picking him up and then leading a brief chase that ended near Saticoy Street and Canoga Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The shooting was reported around 3:45 p.m. Saturday in a downtown parking lot in the 22900 block of Vanowen Street, according to LAPD.
Over the weekend, police identified the suspect in the shooting as 34-year-old Mark Connole, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and held on $2 million bail.
“One of the victims met the suspect for unknown reasons. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victims when the suspect presented a handgun and began shooting at them,” police said.
One person died at the scene and three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police say Connole crashed his vehicle and fled the scene of the shooting, but Waters drove to the area in a red Honda and picked up the suspect. Waters then launched a police chase which ended and he was subsequently arrested along with Connole, according to LAPD.
According to the police, a firearm was recovered.
Waters was arrested on suspicion of criminal escape, police said. She was being held on $75,000 bond, according to prison records.
The name of the victim killed in the shooting is being withheld pending notification from family members.
Authorities are asking people who were at the mall on Saturday and witnessed the shooting to share any information, including cellphone video that captured the altercation that preceded the shooting.
