Ryutaro Ichimura, the main producer of the beloved saga dragon quest, announced his sudden departure from Square Enix in a message posted to his personal Twitter account. In the post, Ichimura thanked everyone who accompanied him on his trip and explained that he is retiring from the company effective March 31. In addition, he took the opportunity to reflect on his departure and the limits you face in the number of projects you can participate in due to your age.

- In his announcementIchimura mentioned that at age 47, the number of projects you can work on is getting smaller and smaller and that, since it currently takes three to four years to create a video game, one must be careful in choosing the titles to be produced.

- It’s a shame to see him leave Square Enix after so many years at the helm of the Dragon Quest saga. Actually, I’m sure the franchise wouldn’t be what it is today without Ichimura.

The last project in which Ichimura will appear as a producer is Infinity Strash – Dragon Quest: Dai’s Adventure, Coming to PS5, PS4, PC and Switch this autumn. However, he assured that he left the project in good hands and was excited to explore new challenges in the future.
