Rihanna again made history. The American Film Academy has confirmed the artist from Barbados as one of the musical performances at the awards ceremony Oscars 2023 which will be held next March 12 (early morning of March 13 Spanish time).

Riri will become the first woman in history to perform at both of the biggest industry shows in the United States in the same year: the continuation of the Super Bowl and the gala of the Oscars. Only one soloist had reached this milestone before: Phil Collins in 2000. Although on this occasion the legendary Genesis drummer was not the headliner of the Super Bowl break but one more artist in a choral performance .

The singer managed to be the only protagonist of the musical spectacle at the break of the biggest sporting event and even managed to eclipse it. Because everyone will remember her gigantic and spectacular staging and her way of announcing her second pregnancy on the flying platforms of her performance.

Rihanna will perform lift me up, the first of two songs that marked his musical comeback after more than five years without releasing any previously unreleased songs. The hit became the central axis of the soundtrack of Wakanda Black Panther Forever and served as a stage before the premiere of Born again, the second of the performer’s participation in the film’s soundtrack.

Many wanted to see in this announcement the stage before the Barbadian soloist manages to win her first Oscar. However, the competition will not be easy since Among the Oscar nominees there are other big names with international success like Diane Warren, Lady Gaga or David Byrne. The singer has already managed to beat other names like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez or The Weeknd who appeared on the shortlist but did not make the cut.

Rihanna could become a triple star of the biggest film festival in the United States: on the one hand with her performance, on the other hand with her possible victory for the best song and finally because of her passage on the red carpet where her pregnant belly could all steal the headlines tonight.

And the Oscar goes to…
