Hollywood has lost a prolific character actor

Ricardo Roat, who appeared in various programs such as Friends and Seinfeld, has died. He was 89.

According to the actor’s obituary, which was published in Los Angeles Times on August 28, he passed away “suddenly” on August 5 in Orange County, California. No other details about his death were released.

ME! News reached out to Roat’s representative for comment but did not hear back.

Throughout his 50-year career, Roat has acted in more than 135 roles on television, film and Broadway. He was a guest star twice on the golden girls, first as the host of a murder mystery and then as the boyfriend of Rose Nylund (played by Betty Blanco) who was found dead in her bed.

Additionally, Roat appeared on Hill Street Sadness, Matlock, The babysitter, Cold case, Dynasty, Dallas, Charlie’s Angels, heart and souls and many more. He also acted on Broadway in Sunday in New York, any wednesday, moon over buffalo, Julius Caesar and guys in the band.
