Early today at approximately 3:15 a.m. the Golden Beach Police Department received a call for assistance from the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department.
Both departments were trying to stop a stolen car heading north on Ocean Drive. The suspects attempted to turn onto Hallandale Beach Blvd, lost control of the vehicle and fled on foot.
During the foot chase, a sergeant from the Golden Beach Police Department was shot twice in the arm. Fortunately, he is stable and undergoes surgery. Hollywood police have arrested the shooter and another suspect.
The injured officer, Sergeant Joseph Bautista, is stable and recovering. Two suspects have been arrested and are in custody.
