A group of young people entered a secondary school with the intention of allegedly hitting a student, but the school principal intervened and it was she who was beaten.
The incident happened at Sycamore High School in Anaheim as the school day had just ended.
Revealed footage showed some of the youngsters armed with bats, who, after realizing they were being taped, fled the scene.
The attack happened around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to witnesses, a group of about six teenagers entered the school with the intention of hitting a student, but the director of the place intervened and it was she who received some blows, which provoked reactions from several parents.
“We ask the district to please support us and (guarantee) the safety of our students, our staff and the entire school campus,” said Sofía Romero, a mother.
The acts of violence were reported to school authorities and political representatives, who were present this morning to respond to the concern raised in the community.
A California bill seeks to make the measure mandatory in an effort to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
“We all come to support the community, parents, teachers and schools because we want our children to learn knowing that something won’t happen to them in school,” said Congressman Lou Correa.
“We are coordinating very closely with the police department, who have doubled their presence at this school, although what happened to the principal of this school is still very unfortunate,” AUHSD Superintendent Michael Matsuda said.
According to the versions of some parents, fights between students inside and outside the campus are constant, which is why they demand more security and counseling for students.
“We ask for more security that implements what needs to be put in place so that our children can come and feel safe here at school,” said Sofía Romero, a mother.
The hope of the group of parents who demonstrated this morning on the outskirts of the education campus is that the acts of violence will stop and that students can be safe inside and outside the school.
According to the superintendent, two of the young people who participated in this attack have already been arrested. We have also been informed that the attackers do not belong to this school.
