Since the beginning of the year, Netflix will announce its change of strategy, With the extermination of shared accounts as one of the mainstays, there were many who promised to end their subscriptions.
In the networks, the promise to leave the platform if it came true has even become a trending topic. And it’s come to pass.
Since February, shared accounts have disappeared and many have had to look for another alternative to the common payment they made until then. But… Did they become new users of the streaming giant, did they prefer to go back to piracy or did they stay on other platforms?
A study by Kantar reveals that Netflix has lost more than a million subscribers in Spain after implementing its new measures. In this survey, the company highlights the following:
Deleting shared accounts”resulted in the immediate loss of one million users”. Which meant that “the platform almost tripled their unsubscribe rate in the quarter compared to the prior period, and nearly half of users who left the platform said they would not pay for the service.”
A trend that, if it continues, could conclude that Netflix’s decision to terminate its shared accounts was one of the most damaging in its history.
