Los Angeles County residents who need to travel short distances can do so using Metro’s shared transit service.
The Metro Micro program is an affordable option for riders that the transit agency launched in December 2020. The service is available in different areas of the county for just $1.
Metro Micro is a ride-sharing service using vans and small vehicles that will be operated by Metro in certain areas.
Metro will hire 48 new road safety officers to strengthen public safety.
The service is designed to integrate directly with the existing transit system and improve transit service where fixed-route buses are difficult to operate.
It was designed in conjunction with Metro’s NextGen bus plan to restructure the bus system and increase service in areas where fixed-route buses are difficult to operate.
How does Metro Micro work?
Metro Micro uses vans for short trips within designated service areas in Los Angeles County.
The service allows passengers to plan entire Metro Micro trips and their bus or train trip in real time, using a single mobile app, web browser or Metro’s call center.
Passengers will be able to pay for the service using their TAP Card and TAP Account or with a debit, credit or prepaid credit card.
At a Los Angeles subway station, authorities blast classical music as part of a crime-fighting program to deter those who would otherwise sleep in the station.

The van will pick it up at the address specified by the user.
Which areas does Metro Micro cover?
Currently, Metro Micro covers the following areas
- Watts/Compton: Monday to Friday (5 a.m. to 11 p.m.) / Saturday and Sunday (5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.)
- LAX/Inglewood: Moons in viernes (5h-21h)
- North Hollywood/Burbank: Monday to Friday (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) / Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
- The mountain: Monday to Friday (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) / Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
- Altadena/Pasadena/Sierra Madre: Domingo Moons (5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
- Highland Park/Eagle Rock/Glendale: Domingo Moons (5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
- Northwest San Fernando Valley: Domingo Moons (5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
- UCLA/Westwood/VA Medical Center: Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
