NEW YORK — A Queens man attempted to prevent his car from being stolen on Monday, and his efforts landed him on the roof of his moving car with thieves driving.

Despite their best attempt, the suspected car thieves didn’t slow down and ended up crashing the car, leaving the owner seriously injured.

The incident happened Monday in the South Ozone Park section of Queens. Police have since been able to arrest two of the three alleged thieves.

The suspects were able to access the vehicle while the owner entered a store and left the engine running.

After jumping on the car in an attempt to stop the trio, the driver accelerated Boulevard Leffertslost control and crashed into a fire hydrant.

Law enforcement sources told our sister network NBC New York that all of the suspects in the case are teenagers.

The police investigation is still ongoing, please check back for updates.
